The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is urging motorists to drive safely this holiday season and all year long. Their “Don’t Wreck The Holidays” campaign is specifically aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving. According to the NHTSA, during December, from 2013-2017, 28 percent of those killed in crashes died in wrecks involving drunk drivers. Injury causing and fatal drunk driving crashes are 100 percent preventable.
If you’re celebrating the holidays with alcohol this year, make sure to designate a driver. Law enforcement officials will be out in full force during the holiday season, so don’t risk getting behind the wheel. It’s not worth endangering yourself or others or going to jail.
