Early Life & Education

Josh grew up in the mountains. His parents, Richard and Patti Harper, are attorneys who have been helping injured workers for more than thirty years from their law firm in Sylva.

Josh went to college at UNC-Chapel Hill. After college, he served in the Army as a military intelligence officer. After his unit was deployed to Afghanistan, Josh received the Bronze Star Medal.

Josh then used the GI Bill and enrolled in law school at Wake Forest University. He graduated magna cum laude.

Legal Career

Josh’s first job as a lawyer was at one of North Carolina’s largest law firms, where he represented corporations and insurance companies in complex litigation in both state and federal court. 

Before joining Davis Law Group, Josh practiced law at his family’s firm. During that time, he gained valuable courtroom experience trying more than a dozen workers’ compensation cases with his father, Rick Harper. During that time, Josh also worked with Davis Law Group on several commercial trucking cases involving catastrophic injuries.

In addition to representing those seriously injured or killed in commercial truck crashes and other incidents causing serious injury, Josh has also volunteered as an appellate brief writer for the North Carolina Advocates for Justice.

Family

Josh and his wife (who grew up in Arden) are the proud parents of five children.
