NHTSA on Teen Driver Safety
This devastating wreck comes right after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) National Teen Driver Safety Week (October 21-27, 2018). Since motor vehicle crashes are still the leading cause of death for teens, the NHTSA hopes to raise awareness about the dangers facing teens on roadways across the nation. According to the NHTSA, there were 1,972 teen drivers of passenger vehicles involved in fatal motor vehicle traffic crashes in 2015. Additionally, an estimated 99,000 teen passenger vehicle drivers were injured in motor vehicle crashes that year.
Teen Driving Rules For The Road
During National Teen Driver Safety Week, the NHTSA publicized their Rules for the Road for teen drivers. These focus on the five most dangerous issues facing teens behind the wheel. In addition to driver inexperience, a variety of risk factors can exponentially increase the likelihood of a teen driver getting into an injury causing or potentially fatal crash. Listed below are the NHTSA’s Five Teen Driving Safety Rules.
Five Teen Driving Safety Rules
