Over the weekend, portions of the Blue Ridge Parkway had to be closed due to inclement weather. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the NCDOT didn’t pretreat roads with salt brine in Madison County due to the rain expected prior to the snowfall. In addition to freezing rain, snow and ice, officials with the NCDOT were also concerned about potential downed trees, rockslides and black ice.

Motorists are reminded to exercise additional caution while driving through wet and freezing conditions this spring. Always take it slow and allow for additional time to get to your destination.
