Last week, there was a vehicle fire on I-40 in McDowell County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened sometime around 9:45 on Old Fort Mountain, between mile markers 69 and 70. A Hazmat team was called to the scene, because the vehicle was transporting cleaning chemicals like chlorine and other corrosives at the time of the incident. At this time, there has been no word on what caused the fire, but first responders from a variety of agencies rushed to the scene, and traffic was reduced to one lane on the eastbound side of the roadway.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The cause of this vehicle fire could still be under investigation with local authorities.
