Very early on Tuesday morning, there was a tractor-trailer wreck on Interstate 26. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened near Exit 37 in Buncombe County. Very few details have been released about this truck crash, but we do know that an Explosives Ordinance Disposal Team from Fort Bragg was sent to the scene to assist with off-loading the vehicle’s cargo. Initial reports indicate that the truck was headed to South Carolina at the time of the crash.
For currently unknown reasons, the semi truck left the roadway on the left, hit the guardrail in the median and overturned. The truck driver was charged with failure to maintain the lane. This truck crash is likely still under investigation with authorities.
