Last week, there was a tanker truck crash in Buncombe County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on Cedar Creek Road, near Old Fort Road in Broad River. Very few details about this truck crash have been released, but we do know that the wreck happened sometime before 7:00 a.m. on Thursday morning. Initial reports indicate that the tanker truck veered into a creek and then overturned on the roadway.

Fuel Truck Jackknifed on Hairpin Turn

The large fuel truck reportedly jackknifed as it was navigating a hairpin turn. The back end of the truck ended up in the creek beside the roadway. The overturned truck completely obstructed the roadway. A portion of the roadway had to be closed for the rest of the day as crews and first responders worked the scene. Because the truck was hauling about 3,500 gallons of fuel, crews had to offload that safely before the truck could be towed away.

Warning Truck Drivers of Hairpin Turn in Buncombe County

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time a truck driver has attempted turning on this risky stretch of roadway. It simply isn’t equipped to deal with the length of a commercial trucking vehicle. Residents in the area are calling for more signs to be put up closer to the hairpin turn. They want to warn truck drivers not to come up this stretch of roadway. Thankfully, no fuel was spilled in this crash, and no injuries were reported on the scene.
