Community members in Jackson County are calling on lawmakers to improve safety on Ledbetter Road. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, a fatal hit-and-run crash took the life of 40-year-old Daniel Brown earlier this summer. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is getting ready to receive $125,000, and community members in Jackson County are hoping for an access road that could be used by residents and Western Carolina University students.

At this time, the chief complaints about Ledbetter Road are that it is too narrow and doesn’t have shoulders. A connector road could help to reduce traffic in the area and give residents in the area an additional option.
