A pedestrian was recently struck and killed by a car in Buncombe County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened just before 6:00 a.m. on December 20, 2015. The collision occurred on U.S. 70, near Porters Cove Road. For currently unknown reasons, a car came around a curve and struck the 30-year-old pedestrian. Peter Spinney was pronounced dead on the scene. Very few details about this incident have been released, and the collision might still be under investigation with law enforcement authorities.

Also, using crosswalks when they’re available can help to improve overall safety when navigating the roadways on foot. Pilot programs for increasing pedestrian safety are popping up in Asheville too. These safety initiatives are aimed at increasing visibility for pedestrians crossing busy roadways. Ultimately, it’s up to drivers to lookout for pedestrians and share the roadways.
