Semi Truck Crashes in Asheville
Wrecks involving commercial trucks can leave victims in the hospital or worse. Semi trucks, 18-wheelers, tanker trucks and large tractor-trailers can weigh up to 80,000 pounds. They can’t stop on a dime, and they can do considerable damage to smaller passenger occupant vehicles on the roadway. Because commercial trucks are so large and heavy, they have additional rules and regulations to follow. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is the department responsible for regulating the commercial trucking industry to ensure safety for all roadway users.
Investigating a Tractor Trailer Crash
A comprehensive and in-depth accident investigation following a wreck with a semi truck is absolutely essential. Since commercial trucking companies and big-rig drivers have additional rules and regulations to follow, investigations can take longer than for crashes that only involve smaller vehicles. It’s important to have an experienced truck accident lawyer on your side. An attorney can stay abreast of official investigative developments and help to determine if a driver or trucking company was violating any safety regulations at the time of the crash.
