The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is hoping to reduce the number of injury-causing and fatal drunk driving crashes this holiday season and all year long. In addition to the annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, they’ve recently released a mobile app to help deter drunk driving.
The SaferRide app is designed to help users find taxicabs or friends who can give them a ride home at the end of the night. The app uses the person’s location to find a nearby safe ride home. At this time, the app is available for Android users on Google Play.
