WLOS ABC News Channel 13 recently reported on a proposed bill that would penalize those going too slow in the left lane with a $200 dollar fine. If Senate Bill 303 gets passed, it will expand on the current law, which states that slower drivers should keep to the right. The fine would be used in cases where the driver is impeding the steady flow of traffic. Basically, if faster vehicles on the right are passing you while you’re in the left lane, you could be facing a fine if this bill gets passed.
Fines would not be applied in cases where drivers are moving over or preparing to make a left-hand turn. Impeding the flow of traffic can cause congestion on roadways and increase the risk of accidents.
