Earlier this week, there were multiple crashes on I-40. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, Monday night was a difficult evening on the busy interstate roadway. Just before 7:00 p.m., there was a wreck in the eastbound lanes near exit 46A in Asheville. There were four vehicles involved, and at least two people were hospitalized. First responders and crews rushed to the scene where all but one lane had to be shut down for hours. Traffic was significantly backed up in the area. There has been no word on anybody’s current condition or on the extent of injuries involved. Additionally, no information has been released about the cause of the crash, which could still be under investigation with local law enforcement authorities.

Crash on I-40 in Swannanoa

WLOS ABC News Channel 13 also reported that a second crash happened in the eastbound lanes of I-40 near mile maker 61 in Swannanoa. That incident involved two vehicles and a Swannanoa Fire and Rescue truck. First responders were reportedly working on another wreck when that collision happened. There was at least one person injured in that crash, and that person was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries. Thankfully, those injuries were not described as life threatening on the scene.
