On Wednesday afternoon, parts of I-40 had to be shut down after multiple wrecks. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, there were two jackknifed semi trucks involved. The first crash happened at about 6:20 p.m. on I-40 West at the Crooked Creek Bridge. A big rig jackknifed, and a chain-reaction crash followed behind it.

Later, just before the Sugar Hill Road Exit, another semi-truck, this one hauling cars, jackknifed. At least five people were taken to McDowell Hospital from the crash at Crooked Creek Bridge. Very little information has been released on exactly how these wrecks happened, but heavy rain was reported in the area. Could it have been two separate cases of driving too fast for conditions?
