For currently unknown reasons, the motorcycle ran off of the roadway and hit a guardrail. No other vehicles appeared to be involved, but the crash is still under investigation with local law enforcement officials.
National Ride to Work Day
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is currently getting the word out about the upcoming National Ride to Work Day. Motorcycle riders are encouraged to ride their bikes to work on June 18, 2018 to help raise awareness about roadway safety for motorcyclists. Because they lack the safety features of larger automobiles, like steel cages, air bags and seat belts, motorcycle riders are at a higher risk of injury when involved in crashes.
Share The Road With Motorcycles
Even with safe riding practices, helmets and other protective gear, motorcycle riders need other drivers on the road to pay attention. Motorist awareness of motorcycles is an absolutely critical component for roadway safety. Distracted driving has no place behind the wheel. If you’re looking at your phone, you’re not looking around you for motorcycles and other vehicles.
