Business owners, concerned community members and traffic engineers are working together to improve safety in Asheville’s busy River Arts District (RAD). According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the City of Asheville is getting ready to lower speed limits on various high-traffic roadways in the area. Crosswalks to improve pedestrian safety, strategic rumble strips and additional traffic safety signs will also be installed over the next few months.

At this time, the area is well known for being dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians. Numerous vehicle collisions have also been reported in the RAD over the past year. Community members are hoping these improvements will make the area safer for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
