Early Monday morning, a wrong-way crash took the life of one person in Haywood County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the incident happened on I-40 near the Highway 74 exit, sometime after 3:00 a.m. Apparently, a van was headed the wrong way, when it crashed into a semi truck, head on. The van and the large truck caught fire, and the driver of the van was pronounced dead on the scene.
The truck driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. At this time, there’s no word on how or why the van was going the wrong way down the highway. The cause of this crash is still under investigation, and the identity of the driver who was killed has not yet been released.
