On Sunday morning, a wreck on Highway 25 took the life of one person. The crash happened near Tuxedo, and the driver of the car has been charged with felony hit and run and DWI. According to WLOS ABC Channel 13 News, Angel Diaz was driving when he lost control of his car and slid sideways into a guardrail. The impact killed the passenger, but Diaz didn’t stop driving. He drove the damaged car north for about 10 miles before stopping on I-26, by the Upward Road Overpass. Diaz then fled the scene on foot and reportedly got into a friend’s car. Authorities found his car with the body the passenger, Luiz Ruiz, inside.
Driver Held on $400,000 Bond
Trooper J.A. Nix arrested Diaz, and found him to have suffered from minor injuries in the wreck. He was booked, had his first court appearance and is being held under a $400,000 bond. According to WLOS ABC News, his next court date is July 15th. An updated news report said that additional charges are pending.
