On Monday night, a driver was killed in a car crash in Macon County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the wreck happened sometime after 8:00 p.m. on U.S. 441 near Mulberry Road. Very few details have been released about this crash, but the driver reportedly lost control of his vehicle. The Mustang crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a southbound pickup truck, causing the truck to spin and go over the guardrail.

The driver of the Mustang was pronounced dead on the scene, and the driver of the pickup truck was airlifted to a hospital. That person has since been treated and released. WLOS ABC News Channel 13 reported that there were 10 fatal wrecks in North Carolina over the Labor Day holiday weekend.
