Last week, there was a fatal crash on Rosman Highway in Transylvania County. According to WLOS ABC News Channel 13, the collision happened on U.S. 64 (Rosman Highway) near the Sav-Mor, going toward Lake Toxaway, at about 1:11 p.m. A Ford F-250 truck, driven by 68-year-old Thomas Corbin McCall, was headed west when it crossed the centerline. It collided head-on with a Ford Escape. The driver in the Ford Escape, 61-year-old Mildred Elizabeth Norton, was killed in the crash. McCall was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries, and he was charged with DWI, misdemeanor death by vehicle and travelling left of center.

In addition to their many seasonal anti-drunk driving campaigns, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is also calling on motorists to abstain from driving while buzzed. Their Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving safety campaign is all about raising awareness about the subtle and dangerous impacts that an alcohol buzz has on drivers. They’re asking motorists to make a safety pledge to never get behind the wheel buzzed or drunk.
